boost your business by using our green ticks signposting system
'Quick Win' standards are set by Defra and consist of mandatory minimum standards to which certain products should conform, as well as a voluntary, more stretching, best practice standard.
Quick Wins cover a range of commonly-purchased goods including IT equipment, white goods, paper and construction materials and relate to characteristics such as energy consumption, recycled content and biodegradability.
Ever since the UK Government set targets for Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate (SOGE), demonstrable operational sustainability has become a top priority for every public sector organisation in the land - with central government departments and their agencies in particular mandated to achieve agreed standards.
To support the SOGE targets, the ‘green tick’ system flags up to customers those individual products that conform to these mandatory standards, using a ‘green tick’ logo on the online catalogue of the Buying Solutions website. The voluntary best practice standards are identified by a ‘green tick plus’ logo.
To assess whether your products meet the Quick Win standard visit the DEFRA website .
Once you've identified suitable items to be 'green ticked', just visit your product area on our website where you can find and apply the 'green tick' badge.

Buying Solutions aspires to lead the way in delivering sustainable procurement solutions for the UK public sector
Our customers are looking to buy greener products to help them meet their increasingly challenging sustainability targets. This is especially the case for Central Government departments who have to buy products which meet Defra’s “Quick Win” sustainability standards.
To facilitate this, Buying Solutions has introduced the new “Greenticks” facility on the website. Participating suppliers are able to differentiate themselves by clearly identifying which of their products meet the standards.
As a Buying Solutions supplier, we actively encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity to promote your green products.

Once you've identified suitable items to be 'greenticked', you will be given the option to flag these products with the greentick logo at the time of uploading your product information. Customers are able to search all products to identify which have the greentick logo next to the product information.
This is a really good opportunity to raise your profile in an area of increasing importance to customers. There are currently over 350 "Greenticked" products on our website and we are aiming to increase this to at least 1000 by the end of the year.
