Operational Efficiency Programme prompts transfer of NHS PASA non-health categories to Buying Solutions
The Government’s recently published Operational Efficiency Programme has revealed huge potential for further efficiency savings in the public sector.
The report, which coincided with the 2009 Budget, proposed a range of recommendations in each category. One of major significance to Buying Solutions is the proposed transfer of some of NHS PASA’s non-health specific categories to Buying Solutions. This proposal is now being explored in depth and we will update you shortly.
All of the opportunities and implications of the report are currently being considered, though early analysis gives us confidence that our strategy for growth is correct.
As the only national Professional Buying Organisation in the public sector we are encouraged that the increased use of buying organisations is recommended and the programme of collaborative procurement to cover additional categories has been extended to include construction, facilities management and food initially.
